Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms out there. I covered where to go for some treats for mom in Carolina Beach yesterday. Here are some excellent treats for mom in Wrightsville Beach, and downtown Wilmington.
I am going to start with two of my favorites. First is Brooklyn Cafe. I just stumbled upon this place about a month ago. I had never had a Beignet before that day and was not quite sure what they were. Turns out they are now one of my favorite snacks. This is also a great place to bring mom for Mother’s Day. They are having a great special. Just for mom there are $2.50 Mimosas and one free donut. I wish I was going to be here to enjoy it.
Another one of my favorites is Far from France. They have some of the best pastries. I had an egg and bacon pastry last time I was in and that was so good. They also have a variety of sweets like mini truffles, macaroons, and gourmet chocolates from Maxim’s de Paris and Voisin chocolatier. If mom likes pastries, this is the place to go. I was not able to find out if they have any specials today before I left, so sorry. I am sure you can always call.
This one is in Wrightsville Beach and a little more expensive than the options above, but if there is still room. The Oceanic is a great place to bring mom. They have a build your own Bloody Mary and Champagne bar and they are right on the ocean. I think the best view that I have found so far on Wrightsville Beach. They will also have music from Moxie and Flo from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm. I recently had brunch there and it was great. Loved the little muffins.
Downtown Wilmington also has a few places on the Riverwalk that would be great for a brunch. One of my favorites on the Riverwalk is Elijah’s. It has been a long time since I had brunch there. It was actually one of the first places we tried before we moved to Wilmington. My daughter and I had brunch there while we were deciding that this was the place we should be living. I remember this place well because it was the first time I had ever had Grits. Still getting used to them.
If brunch is not your thing, there are always more ways to celebrate around town without eating. There is always the Riverwalk providing it is nice out, or you can always do the Wilmington Water Tour. I am still waiting to do that one myself. Hopefully in the next few weeks, as the weather is getting much warmer. I would like to try the evening cruise. I will definitely write about that adventure. Another option would be a walk through Airlie Gardens, that is beautiful this time of year. You can go for a walk and then treat mom to some ice cream at Boombalatti’s afterward.
There is one thing for certain that I do know, being a mom myself. It does not matter what you do for Mother’s Day, as long as you show mom you care and appreciate her, she will love anything!!
