I do not know about you, but I am definitely enjoying all the sunshine. Glad I have an appointment down at the beach today.
Yesterday I stopped The Art Works. They are having a terrific fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity this weekend. It is called The UpScale ReSale and Design Challenge. This is the 4th time this competition has been held. It is a two day event with a dinner and sale on Friday night from 6:00pm – 9:00pm (Tickets $35.00) and the sale continues on Saturday 9:00am – 2:00pm (admission $5.00). Michelle Conely from Going Local NC was nice enough to invite me into their booth at set up time for a couple of live feeds and some pictures of their booth in process. Please check out the feeds and share them. This is a great organization. I volunteered for Habitat for Humanity for over two years when I lived in the Indianapolis area. I will not make a practice to promote national charitable organizations, but this one is an exception.
After leaving The Art Works, I made a couple quick stops and was in search of lunch. I decided on The Copper Penny, since I had not been there in a while. It was pretty busy for being slightly after lunch time. I looked at the menu for a bit to figure out what may take good pictures and that I would enjoy. I ordered the Loaded Baked Potato Soup. I told the bartender I wanted the Loaded Baked Potato Soup, but thought there would be no color, she assured me it would be pretty. It was at that. Look at all the bacon chunks on the top. When I finished the soup, my entree arrived. It was a Grilled Salmon Sandwich. Not as colorful as I had hoped, but it tasted good. It came with a side of wasabi aioli. There were a couple other aioli sauces to choose from on the menu. I was not able to finish everything on my plate since I was planning on their dessert. They assured me I would not be disappointed with their dessert. While I waiting for it to come out, I met this really nice couple a few seats down and their food had just been served. I was watching her play with the onion rings, amazed by the size. He was taking pictures of her wearing one of the onion rings as a bracelet, so I asked if I could also. She nicely said yes. So you will see a picture of her below wearing an onion ring bracelet. By this time my warm Bread Pudding was at my seat. It was Chocolate Chip drizzled with warm caramel. It was so good, but I was already full, so home it went. If my daughter is reading this, sorry, but planning on having it reheated for breakfast this morning after I post this.
When I finished lunch, I stopped off at The Wilmington Sharks office to pick up things they had collected for the giveaway basket. The basket will be given away on their first Thirsty Thursday game. We thought that was an appropriate day for Wilmington Fun. So please be sure to like Wilmington Fun’s Facebook page to enter. The basket looks to be worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $500, between the gift cards and merchandise. I will posting this later on Facebook, so you can share with your friends.
Well that’s all for now. Have a wonderful day. Get out and have some FUN!!!!
