Sorry for the late start, slept in a little after all the stops last night. It was Fourth Friday after all. So let’s get started.
We started the evening at Winnie’s Tavern. Knowing we were going to munch all night on the great appetizers served along the Fourth Friday route, we split a burger. Ordered my friend’s favorite, Trailer Park burger. I’m not much on pickles, so they put them on the side. I have been here several times before. Personally, I think it is one of the best burger places in town. The Trailer Park Burger has Cajun Fried Green Tomatoes, Homemade Jalapeno Pimento Cheese, Hickory Smoked Bacon, Iceberg Lettuce, Onion, Bread and Butter Pickles and Winnie’s Chipotle Sauce. We had the Cajun Fries with it, mostly because we thought it would be a better picture. They were really good though. We ordered a side of Winnie’s Chipotle Sauce for dipping. They also have an outdoor seating area in the warmer weather.
After our mini dinner, we headed downtown for Fourth Friday. We made several stops, but I will only focus on one. It is Going Local NC. Not only do they have great appetizers and wine for Fourth Friday, but they also have featured artists. I met Carrie Joy Barnes. She is a local painter. Her works were lovely. There is a picture of her with her paintings, below. I also met Beatriz Moreno. Quick shout out, Happy Birthday again. Beatriz would not let me take her picture, but did let me take pictures of her art. Below you will see a couple of beautiful portraits of dogs. My pictures do not give justice to the work.
We stopped at several more places to look at art and ended up at Port City Pottery & Fine Crafts. There we met Peg Latham and Melanie Walter. Melanie and Peg are seen below with their creations.
Fourth Friday was over way too soon, but we were not out of energy yet. We ran over to Dram and Morsel to say to a couple of our friends before they had dinner. They so nicely let me take pictures of their drinks and pretzel bites. I had to take a picture of the entertainment while we were there too. They are both below. From there, we stopped at The Reel Cafe for Karaoke, but we were a bit early. I had to stop on the way out though and watch a few minutes of hoop on the huge screen outside on the patio. Final Four here I come. We decided it was about time to head toward home, so we made one final stop at Satellite. They had a large crowd, but we were able to find a seat on one of the couches before the music started. We stayed for a bit, and it was time to go home.
If I can get myself together in time may check out the Mac and Cheese at Good Hops around 1. Tomorrow look for Reggae Sunday at Wrightsville Beach Brewery at 3:00, The Veggie Wagon’s One Year Anniversary starting at 2:00 and Dos Eddies at Porches Cafe at River Bluffs at 5:00.
That’s it for today. Don’t forget about beer week. Make sure to get out today and have FUN!!!!!
