Yesterday was a pretty mellow day for me. First of all, it is Monday and I am still catching up from all the excitement last week. The weather did not help much, but I did manage to have FUN anyway.
I started the day with a nice long walk on the beach. Surprisingly, there were many more people on the beach earlier in the day than I had expected. They must have all known about the rain coming too. I did enjoy being on my balcony watching the rain, until the wind changed direction. Later in the day though I had cleared up a little and I decided to join one of my friends on an outing.
He had been wanting to try Merritt’s Burger House. I had just been to Beach Burger House on Saturday, been since I got the fish there, I figured, why not. When we arrived, I drove the car into one of the parking spots undercover, hoping for a little cooler air. The nice woman came out and explained to us how the system worked there. We looked over the menu for a few minutes and determined we would try some of the smaller items for two reasons, one we were eating in the car and two, we were eating in the car. Yes, I did make a mess. We started with a hand dipped chocolate shake. Then proceeded to order a cheeseburger all the way, chili dog and a chick filet with french fries. As you can see from the picture when it was ready, the meal was delivered to my window. I had never been to a place like this before, so the idea of having the food attached to the window was a little frightening to me. I can be a little clumsy at times. I carefully started taking all the food off the tray. As we unwrapped the food, we took a bite of the cheeseburger and chick filet so you could get a better idea of what the sandwich looked like. Sorry for the bite marks. The chili dog was a little different. The hot dog was red. I meant to ask why when she came back, but forgot, so I googled it when I got home. I guess it is called a red snapper hot dog, very popular in Maine. When we had finished, I wanted to try the hot apple turnover. FYI for anyone new going here, order it with your food. It takes ten minutes to make. My friend was not into waiting for the apple turnover, since hot and humid again already. I will get one next time with another shake. All in all, an interesting and good stop.
Well that was it for my Monday. As I said above, nothing to exciting, but most Mondays are not. There will be an exception at the end of the month though, June 25. We will be having a Special Event at Board and Barrel in the newly renovated, Hotel Ballast. Be sure to wear your t-shirt or tank, as that is your (admission) Ticket to FUN!!! We have arranged for a tasting of some of their appetizers, as well as entertainment from Chris Nash. It will be in the pool area, so you can enjoy the view of the river. The time will be 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Please note, that even though we will be in the pool area, no swimming will be allowed. Thanks.
Today is great day to be down at the beach. If I were you, I would check out The Dive or Buzz’s Roost for some great specials. Cannot make it to the beach, well, whatever you do then, get out and have FUN!!!!
