This was a very long, but terrific weekend. We tried some new things, saw great music and just had a wonderful a time. It will definitely take me a few days to blog about the weekend.
As far as Saturday, we started out in the afternoon at Board and Barrel. I saw that they had music in the afternoon and wanted to check it out. We sat at the outside bar, which is why all the drinks are in plastic cups in the pictures. The slight breeze off the river was quite nice. The musician stage has a good location there, so you can see from the outdoor bar or from the cabanas. Not sure if you all remember, but we recently had an event there at the beginning of summer. This place is definitely worth checking out. It is a very relaxing place.
We had wandered toward a couple more places we wanted to try, but unfortunately they were not open at the moment, so went down to Dock Street Oyster Bar, since one of my friends had not been there before. I started with their drink special of the day. I do not remember what it was, and there were people eating under the specials sign, so I did not want to take a picture and disturb their meal. I did order one of their other specials and remember the name, it was the Seafood Chili. It was basically a chili with shrimp and clams in it. Too bad it is not on the menu. I would go back just for that. My friends each ordered a side salad to go with their meals. One of my friends ordered the chilled oysters on the half shell. That comes with fresh horseradish and cocktail sauce, although she opted for the horseradish and tabasco. They bring the oysters in fresh daily. My other friend ordered the Sesame Ginger Shrimp, which she had shared some of it with me. The Sesame Ginger Shrimp was served over rice. Not sure you can see that in the pictures.
We will continue Saturday tomorrow. As far as today some of the things I may get to today is the half price wine at HopLite Irish Pub at Carolina Beach, or possibly the 1/2 price rack of ribs at 22 North on Wrightsville Beach from 5:00pm – 10:00pm. There is also a meet the Brewer’s event at Duck and Dive this evening from 6:30pm – 7:30pm. This will be a series of events. One of things I am hoping to try soon is a sip and paint. There is one tonight at Wine and Design from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. It is located on Military Cutoff Road. If theater is your thing, there are auditions this evening and tomorrow for “Agnes of God” at 7:00pm at Hannah Block Historic USO at 7:00pm. Also do not forget that this Friday is Fourth Friday. Please do not forget to go out to all the galleries and enjoy a glass of wine while looking at all the fabulous art work from our local artists.
Well that is it for me today. I will be working hard today on getting more information for the website and also putting together our next giveaway and set of events for the fall. If you have not done so, please get your 2018 Wilmington Fun t-shirt or tank. These are your ticket to FUN for these upcoming events. I know the weather is a little iffy today, but be sure to get out and have some FUN!!!
