Good Morning,

I had a great day yesterday. It started with a trip to Java Dog in the afternoon to meet one of the newest members of Wilmington Fun staff. I will introduce you to him in tomorrow’s blog. At Java Dog I had a piece of crumbcake and an iced tea. Normally I would not blog about a meeting, but I wanted to let everyone know that the Cotton Exchange now has a pay/validating parking lot. The girl working a Java Dog said it happened this week. I am not quite sure how the parking works exactly, but I received a slip of paper from the machine and asked the man what I should do with it. He said bring it to Java Dog and they would give me a validation sticker with my order good for one hour. The girl in Java Dog said the same thing. I am not sure if the time limit is different for the shops and restaurants or not. I just barely made the hour I was given. You can still park in the lot without validation, but there is a charge.

After leaving downtown and running a couple of errands, I picked up my daughter so she could help me try out a new restaurant. Mac’s Speed Shop on Oleander. They opened on Fourth of July. Apparently last night was bike night. Not exactly sure what that means, the server just mentioned it to us. There did not seem to be any specials attached to it, but there was live music, so that may have been the case. After sitting down at one of the high top tables by the large garage doors, I ordered a Mac’s Speed Shop Lemonade. It is vodka and fresh squeezed lemonade. They had several specialty cocktails to choose from, so next time I will try something different. Right after my drink arrived, so did a basket of complimentary hushpuppies. We nibbled on those for a minute while the tabasco fried pickles were on their way out. Not a pickle fan, so I let my daughter eat them. I did try the coating on one of them though. For dinner, we decided to try as many things as possible. That led us to get the lil’ bit combo platter and a side car combo. It definitely gave us enough to try. The lil’ bit combo platter came with hand pulled pork, beer can chicken, St. Louis ribs, and beef brisket. We could have selected Texas beef sausage as one of the four options also. It came with two sides and Texas toast. We ordered the baked potato salad and baked beans with that meal. With the side combo, we chose macaroni and cheese, onion rings and Brunswick stew. This also came with Texas toast. It was a great way to try everything. If you bring more people or are just hungry, they do have a larger version of both these combos. Needless to say, this was way too much food for us, so we packed it up, and I sent it home with my daughter. They had a few options for dessert, but we were way to full to get one. Maybe next time when I go back. Because I would like to try the rib meal, since I only got 2 little ones last night.

Well, that was it for my Wednesday night. Not sure what I will be doing today. I know there is a trip to Brooklyn Cafe in my future for Beignets this morning. Other than that, who knows. I do know it will entail FUN though. So be sure to get yourself out today and have some FUN!!!!
