Started Friday with a beautiful walk on the beach. I had to take some pictures this morning. It was to nice not to share.
Friday evening was awesome. We first went over the bridge to Leland. We stopped at Local’s Tavern. I had met one of the owners a few weeks ago at The Reel and he and I were talking about it, so I thought we should go check it out. When we arrived Emily Roth was entertaining the guests outside. We would have liked to listen, but all the outdoor tables were filled. We ventured indoors to check out the bar. We all took advantage of their Friday drink specials. I had the $5.00 rum punch and my friends enjoyed pints of Goose Island for $3.00. We met some nice people there and hung out for a bit before heading back over the bridge.
After getting to downtown Wilmington and parking, we headed down toward the riverwalk for the downtown sundown concert series. On the way, one of my friends saw a sign for a new bar. Of course, we had to turn around and see what it was. Turns out, there is a new wine and beer bar on Front and Market Streets called Bridge View Beer & Wine. It is located on the seventh floor of the building. There were spectaculor views of the city and the river. The bar holds about 50 people. They have a good selection of wine and beer there. This was number 218 for me (I did not count the stop in Leland). It should also be a stop for you. Even if you only get one drink, the views are a must see. FYI, with this heat, was great to have a rooftop view and be indoors.
We made one more stop before the concert. My friends had a quick beer at Rebellion. We wanted to see how the stealth beer Friday worked. They said normally they would post a beer on Facebook on Friday and that would be there special for the day. I cannot remember what they had, but it was only $2.00. That being said we stayed a bit longer than scheduled for me to finish my iced tea. We finally got to the concert. It was a Zac Brown tribute band. We only stayed for a few songs. It was a little too crowded for me to do a live feed.
We popped over to Anne Bonny’s to listen to the music over there. It was quite crowded there too, but we found a few seats facing the water, right next to one of the many fans. Crystal Fussell was performing. I did get a few pictures, but with all the people eating, again no live feed. Sorry. We made a quick stop for a nightcap to Goodfellas, but only heard the sound check for I believe their name is The Carolinians.
All in all, an excellent night out with friends. Seeing some new places did not hurt either. Do not forget, the Wilmington Sharks are playing tonight at 6:00pm. Wear your Wilmington Fun t-shirt or tank top and get in for free. You can also buy one at the door. If you cannot get out for the game, be sure to get out and have some FUN!!!!!
