Good Morning,

I know it is Wednesday, but I am still on last Friday. Fourth Friday to be exact. We had gotten an early start to Fourth Friday this month. We arrived at Port City Pottery and Fine Crafts just before 6:00pm. I met June Duchunas while I was there. She is one of the local jewelers who pieces are shown in their shop. She transforms antiques and discarded items into beautiful works of wearable art. I have included a few pictures of her work. June introduced me to Graham Pelletier. He is an alcohol ink artist. I am not actually sure what that is, but his works are really unique and beautiful. Again I took a couple of photos to give you an idea of what some of his work looks like.

We made a few more of the usual stops, including Golden Gallery and New Elements Gallery. We decided today to mix it up a bit and try some new places. As we were walking along deciding where to go next, I was taking some pictures of the locals.

After walking around for a bit we found ourselves at the Burgwin-Wright House and Gardens. They had an African-American Quilt Exhibit there from Celeste Butler. I took a photograph of one of my favorite quilts that we saw. There was also a harpist playing while we were enjoying the exhibit, and a young lady walking around with some hors d’oeuvres. We helped ourselves to a glass of wine while we looked at all the interesting quilts and the tremendous detail that went into each of them. This was a very interesting place. I would like to go for the tour after the holiday weekend.

When we left the Burgwin-Wright House, we made a few more stops along the way, unfortunately, not sure what happened, but we missed two of my favorite stops, Manifest Designs and Going Local NC. They always have a wide variety of wonderful items to look at when you go in their shops. We did stop at Expo 216, where we found Perry Smith entertaining the people milling about looking at the exhibits.

On our way back to the car, we saw a sign in front of Bombers Beverage Co. for a wine tasting, so we popped in to check it out. The bartender there was very nice and gave us a taste of three different wines from France that the were featuring. They were all tasty, and hoping we can get back for a glass soon. By the way, they do this every Friday night. We did not want to overdo at Fourth Friday, since we had one more stop to make and it was on the north side. I had not been to Cody’s North for a while and they were having karaoke there for the first time on Fridays, so I thought I would check it. We had a great time and met some new people. If you are looking for it. It is in a tiny strip mall off Market street.

Well, that does it for Friday night. Let’s see what there is to do on a Wednesday evening. There is some really good music tonight. HopLite has Sayer McShane at 7:30 and The Rusty Nail has Whiskey Foxtrot at 7:00. It is Wine Wednesday, so we have many places to drink half price or discounted wine. Check out our website for all the details. I hope to be adding more soon.

Hope you all have a happy Wednesday. Be sure to get out and have some FUN!!!!
