Good Morning,

I cannot believe it has been four months since we launched Wilmington Fun. We have been growing faster than I could have ever imagined. Thank you so much for all the support. We are striving to contact as many FUN businesses as possible to list on the website. It is an ongoing effort since we do have so many wonderful places to go in Wilmington. We appreciate your patience.

Speaking of wonderful places to go on Monday we went to number 236 and 237. Number 236, Siena Italian Restaurant. It is located on the Masonboro Loop. I have been wanting to get there for a while, but until tonight it just never happened. We did pick a good night though. Monday is $5.00 wine night. Since we were having Italian food, we decided on red wine for a change. My friend ordered the Joel Gott Cabernet Sauvignon ‘815, while I chose the Dona Paula Los Cardos Cabernet Sauvignon. After ordering the wine, we found there was another bonus to the evening. They had half price appetizers at the bar from 4:00pm – 6:00pm Monday through Friday. We were already at the bar, so we thought we would try a couple appetizers. I had already ordered the Tomato Basil soup, so I thought I would get the Tort di Melanzana to go with it. Basically that is another way of saying Eggplant Parm. It was fried eggplant, herbed ricotta, mozzarella and marinara that is oven baked. My friend decided to get the meatball parmigiana. It came with little slices of garlic bread and a dish of cold ricotta. I tried a bite of the ricotta because I have never thought of eating it cold. It was pretty tasty. We had another stop in mind, so we decided not to have dessert there.

We headed downtown after finishing our appetizers, to get a dessert and try number 237, The Basics. I did not realize until about two months ago that they even had a bar there. It was a cute little place. I ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio so it would go towards my count. While I was enjoying the wine, we looked over the dessert menu. We were torn between the Angel Food Trifle and the Hummingbird Cake. The Hummingbird Cake was a traditional southern spice cake with cream cheese frosting. The Angel Food Trifle had a Gran Marnier custard layered with the angel food cake and fresh berries. We went with the Angel Food Trifle. So glad we did, it was so light. They had some good choices on their regular menu that I would no mind trying next time.

Well that was our Monday. I was very pleased to try a couple new places, especially on a Monday. It can be hit or miss if places are open. As far as Wednesday goes there is plenty to do today. First there is Gruff Goat Comedy at Waterline. I made an error yesterday, it was not yesterday, it is tonight at 8:00pm. So if you thought you missed it, you get another chance tonight. There is also a free wine tasting at Sweet n Savory from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. There is an event at Tavern Law 1832 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. They are talking comics and have people on hand from Foothills Brewing that will be giving away some swag and there is a killer comic book prize. There are many other reoccurring events that you can find on the website for tonight, so be sure to check them out also.

Well that does it for me today. I want to get out and enjoy the sunshine today, before it goes away again. Would love to get a walk on the beach in. Whatever you chose to do today, be sure to have FUN!!!!
