I know yesterday was a little cool and breezy, but we headed to Wrightsville Beach for brunch anyway. It had been a while since I went to that side of town and I wanted to try brunch at Oceanic before the busy season.
I must say when we arrived and got out of the car, we both said we hoped the music was inside today. We went in and the music was just starting. We sat at one of the high top tables near the bar, so we could listen to Dos Eddies while we enjoyed brunch. I always like going to Oceanic not only because you can watch the waves while you eat, but also the food is delicious. I wished it was nicer out, because as you can see from the pictures they have a wonderful deck with lots of seating and beautiful views of the beach.
Having never being there for Brunch, I needed to start with a brunch type cocktail. They had there brunch cocktails outside with somewhat of a build your own bar. I have so many pictures. The first few are of the Bellini station and the bartender making me a Raspberry Bellini. I could not resist taking some of the Build Your Own Bloody Mary section, as well as the Sangria available and the Mimosas. It really was a nice presentation. I usually do not take that many pictures of a bar, but I made an exception today. I hope you enjoy them all.
When we returned from the outside bar, there were warm little blueberry muffins on our table. That was a nice surprise. I was hungry. We continued to look at both menus before ordering, since my friend had never been to Oceanic. I decided that because we were there for Brunch, I would get something off the Brunch menu. The Siesta Bowl looked like it would make a good picture, so I ordered it. My friend was flip-flopping between the French Toast and the Shrimp Tacos. The Shrimp Tacos won. She was very pleased. The Siesta Bowl was also very good. It was a mound of hash browns with sofrito, cheddar sauce, jalapenos, pico de gallo, and scrambled eggs. I will need to go again though, because the The Oceanic Benny went by me and I need to try that. It is basically Eggs Benedict, but with crab meat. As we were eating our meals, I asked if we could possibly get a few Hushpuppies delivered to the table. I told my friend she had to try them. I never liked any Hushpuppies until I had these. Not sure why they are different, but they are absolutely awesome in my book. She liked them as well.
I have to say that between the company, the food and the terrific music of Dos Eddies, it was a wonderful early afternoon. I was debating a walk on the beach afterwards, but opted to watch the Masters Tournament. Those of you who are golf fans, I hope you were able to catch the action today. It was an amazing finish.
Tomorrow is a Monday and I will see what I can find to do. I know I will find something. I am trying to accumulate some information in Breaking Fun for the Azalea Fest this weekend. So please check that out later in the week.
It may be a rainy day, but be sure to get out and have some FUN!!!!
